Hello,
……………….and welcome to my small corner of the internet.
I fervently believe that art is borne from the authentic and honest attempt to put one’s inner thoughts, feelings, and questions about life and the universe into a media observable by others. That’s not to say we will always create “good” art – and it certainly does not suggest others will relate or understand what we have created.
But, with that in mind, I hope you enjoy the work posted here, in this public diary of sorts. I hope to one day share my published works, but, in the meantime, this website is dedicated to the love of art and literature.
Please feel free to browse the digital journal and recommendations list.
I am certain all of us inspiring writers, struggling writers, and just-thinking-about-it writers can recall a famous quote or two that has stuck with us throughout our creative journeys.
Still, in the words of Gordon Lish,

the secret of good writing is telling the truth.

Why write?
Adrienne Rich once wrote that “the power of language” is “our ultimate relationship to everything in the universe. … The knowledge and use of this magic go back very far: the rune; the chant; the incantation; the spell…” I write because I feel compelled to partake in and share in this “power of language.” I want to share pieces of my grandmother, my mother, myself, through writing because writing is, in essence, a reflection of the collective human experience. Writing connects people from different walks of life or who have lived in different periods through shared universal feelings of hope, anger, happiness, and grief. Creating one’s own work is a celebration of the self within this tradition.
